Dr. Pedrera earned his medical degree from the Havana University Medical School, Havana, Cuba, and continued postgraduate work at the University of Miami, School of Medicine. He completed a residency in family medicine at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center. He is board certified in family medicine, with added qualifications in geriatric medicine. His clinical interests include asthma, back pain, diabetes, hypertension, diseases of the lung and thyroid, osteoarthritis, and care of geriatric patients.
Dr. Pedrera participates in the family medicine preceptorship programs at both Rush Medical College and University of Illinois College of Medicine. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Pedrera is designated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services as a civil surgeon to perform official immigration medical examinations.
Dr. Pedrera is on the Medical Staff of Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center and other community hospitals in the neighborhood. His office participates in Medicare and Medicaid, as well as most major HMO, PPO and conventional insurance plans.
