Dr. Michael Prendergast is board certified in both General and Vascular Surgery and performs a variety of minimally invasive procedures in both specialty areas. Particular interests include gall bladder and hernia surgery, endoscopy, and endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms.
He is one of the first surgeons to use the daVinci robotic surgery system to perform single site gall bladder surgery on the North Shore.
Dr. Prendergast is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois School of Medicine and is the site director for The U of I medical student program at Presence St Francis Hospital. He is the recipient of the Golden Scalpel Award for outstanding surgical teaching from the U of I Class of 2014.
Dr. Prendergast is also the Medical Director of the Level One Trauma program at St Francis, which cares for the most seriously injured patients.
